Each piece is unique
Two different types of locally grown grass form the basis for the baskets and bowls from ‘Bwindi Handmade Crafts’. They are harvested by hand in the villages on the edge of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.
Depending on the desired shade, the grasses are either left in their natural state – in a warm beige tone – or dyed using traditional dyes made from roots, leaves and herbs. As no two dyeing processes are exactly the same, each piece develops its own unique shade and pattern.
